As cumulous clouds overdevelop they create cumulonimbus storm clouds. The clouds continue to expand and water vapor condenses into small water droplets. Gravity forces these droplets to fall and cold weather produces snow. As they reach the ground, the individual grains join together and manifest themselves into an accumulation of fluffy powder.
